This one is a needlepainted portrait inspired by the Shakespeare character Ophelia. The beautiful and mysterious character of Ophelia has inspired artists and actresses throughout ages, ever since she first came out of Shakespeare’s imagination. I wanted to portray her at the moment of her death, as the light leaves her eyes and she takes her last breath, she slowly starts to sink to the bottom of the pond, water lilies covering her face..she gives us one last intense look to remember her by. Melancholic, beautiful and even a little scary, I hope to have captured Ophelia’s death with this tiny wearable artwork. Just don’t take it anywhere near water 😉
Ophelia measures 5.5 by 3.5 cm and is created with silk hand embroidery on cotton in a silver setting, and has been sold.
